The Parata family is getting ready for their trip to New Zealand. It’s the happiest Gem has been in a long time and she has a beaming grin. But of course, it wouldn’t be Home and Away if nothing bad happened.

Colby has gone to the trouble of learning Tane’s schedule and thinks something is a bit off when Tane is at the beach on his usual work day, which is just a bit creepy.

Ari and Tane play it cool, then say to each other, the last thing they need is Colby knowing they’re leaving.

But then Alf unintentionally blows their cover and tells Colby and they’re probably on their way to the airport right now.

There’s a montage of happy airport moments to lull us into a false sense of security before we see that the three boys don’t get through customs.

Gem breaks down in tears realising that she has to go on without them.

“Take him home,” Tane says, referring to Mikaere’s ashes which Gem is clutching onto.

Tane and Ari are getting aggressive and Nikau is just a scared puppy as they struggle to get answers.

The customs officer tells them that there’s a block on their passports and they should get some legal advice.

Tane smells a rat... and its name is Colby.

And then guess who should show up at their door.

“Oh good you’re back,” Colby says with the most smug of faces.

“You didn’t think we’d let you leave the country in the middle of an investigation.”

It’s expected, but it’s clear that Colby has a personal vendetta with them regardless of their involvement in the crime, of which there is very little evidence.

Then Tane literally launches himself at Colby like a human battering ram, but Ari holds him back.

Then there’s another montage showing each of the boys coming to terms with the events.

Tane drowns his pain with a stiff drink, but he has a rather determined look about him and something big looks like it’s going to happen.

Ari takes his anger out on the punching bag in his room. I know this isn’t the point, but why is it in his room and not the backyard or some other room with a bit of airflow.

And Nikau is crying in bed.

Ben and Maggie are still reeling with their do they don’t they move to Italy predicament.

Maggie’s not ready to live so far away from the girls even though it was just a few days ago that she couldn’t get out there fast enough and practically ran Ben down in the process.

But Ben is ready to take the leap of faith and start fresh with their rekindled relationship after chatting with John.

“If you’ve still got love in your marriage, you have every chance” John tells him.

He comes home to find Maggie really cleaning out the fringe to help her think.

“Take the risk, I’ve got your back, you can trust me,” Ben says to Maggie.

They kiss in front of the clean fridge. It’s a Smeg.

And Italy is back on!

Marilyn is second guessing herself over leaving John at home alone the previous day but she’s also sick of the constant arguing and is in need of a much needed break.

Alf is pretty sympathetic and agrees he needs a “kick up the (some unclear Alf word).”

He suggests that Maz should look into getting some help at home which would take the burden off their already fragile relationship.
