The singer regularly makes trip to the US to work on his music and has recounted the terrifying experience in an interview with iHeart Radio.

Living in Los Angeles at the time his car had been illegally towed, a common problem in the city where cars are taken but owners are not told where, then months later the scammers sell the cars.

“So I’m sitting in this car wash when all these police converge with guns drawn,” he said. “It’s not really their fault because to them I’m driving a stolen car.”

Despite complying with police, he alleged he was told to “shut up” and to get on the ground before a police officer put a knee on his back and threw his phone anyway.

“He actually had a gun pressed into my forehead,” he said. “It was full-on. I could feel the metal of this gun and there was so many of them.”

Reflecting on the experience, Sebastian empathised with US police with the country’s liberal gun laws.

“They deal with extremely heavy handed members of the public and criminals,” he said. “It’s not like here. Everyone’s got a gun.”
