PARKRUN AUSTRALIA'S KEY FACTS AND FIGURES:

* 10,207,909 event finishes since April 2011

* A forecast 2.82 million finishes in 2022 and 4.37 million in 2026

* Women aged 35-44 make up the largest contingent of Australia's more than 1,109,000 current Parkrunners at 13 per cent

* Both women and men aged 45-54 represent 12 per cent, while the more than 33,000 women and more than 47,000 men aged 65 or over contribute three and four per cent respectively

* More than 70,000 girls and almost 90,000 boys make up Parkrun's under-18 demographic

* With about 389,000 members, Queensland is Parkrun's most popular state, followed by NSW (about 259,000) and Victoria (about 159,000)

* In 2011, the average Parkrun 5km finish time in Australia was 27mins and 42 secs. In 2021, it is 33m54s

* One of the people instrumental in helping set up Parkrun Australia on the Gold Coast in 2011 was running great Ron Clarke

* Of Parkrun's 34,134 current volunteers, more than 10,000 are Queenslanders. NSW supplies 8973 and Victoria 6304

* No one finishes last at Parkrun with "tail walkers" assigned to each event to accompany anyone who needs a little moral support

* The women's Parkrun world record holder is Sydney runner Lauren Reid, who clocked 15m45s at Parramatta in January

* Australia's quickest male Parkrunner is Melbourne-based Olympian Liam Adams who covered the 5km Maribyrnong course in February last year in 14m13s.
