Albany Bayswater have suffered their first loss of the Albany Junior Soccer Association under-15 competition, falling to unbeaten Polonia 6-0 on Saturday.

Albany Bayswater started strong and were relying on a mismatch of speed up front against a solid but slower defence.

It almost paid dividends, with Archie Simmonds breaking the defensive line several times during some quick counterattacks.

Polonia spotted the danger before Albany Bayswater could capitalise on the mismatch, moving Aaron Orr into the backline to support his defence.

Shortly after the adjustment, Polonia went 1-0 in front, with Riley Marsh scoring the opener.

Albany Bayswater continued to press but Polonia looked more assured in defence going into the break 1-0 in front.

The first 10 minutes of the second half were hard-fought until Polonia scored their second through Caelen Lambe.

It disheartened Albany Bayswater and they couldn’t get back into the game, with Polonia finishing 6-0 winners despite the match being a lot more competitive than the scoreline reflected.

In the other under-15s game, Denmark played struggling Albany Caledonian.

Caledonians worked tirelessly to defend their goal and were able to limit Denmark to 3-0 at the end of the first half.

In the second half they fared even better, only conceding one more goal late in the match to give their team a much-needed lift, but ultimately losing the contest 4-0.
