Ernie Dingo set to host Yarning Singing concert at Margaret River HEART as part of foundation’s visit to town

Some of the State’s most esteemed Indigenous talents will come to Margaret River HEART on Thursday with workshops and a concert set to wow the community held by the Phil Walleystack Indigenous Arts Foundation. The day will take place as two parts, the first a set of four workshops of 50 minutes each. The sessions will be held by drummer Reggie D’Souza, actor Ernie Dingo, Grammy-winning violinist Emily Gelineau and artist Phil Walleystack. Mr D’Souza will teach percession for all levels from beginners to professionals while improvisation exercises will be the order of the day at Mr Dingo’s sessions. Participants will be taught how to compose their own music and come up with musical ideas by Ms Gelineau as Mr Walleystack will show the importance of collaboration in creating visual art. Each session will run concurrently allowing those attending to experience each of the four during the session. Later in the day, Mr Dingo will host a 90-minute concert called Yarning Singing which will highlight Indigenous musicians and voices. The performance will feature music from the Gina Williams, Guy Ghouse and Phil Walleystack.
