“Guitar Man” Ginger Cox ready for next adventure after 42 years with Water Corporation in Broome

He’s known by many as The Kimberley Guitar Man, and now Ginger Cox is excited to go on new adventures after retiring from his day job.

After an impressive 42 years working for the Water Corporation in Broome, Mr Cox held a small gathering for family and friends and reflected on his long tenure and favourite memories.

Mr Cox said it was interesting to bring such a big chapter of his life to an end.

“I kind of feel the same way I did when I first started here,” he said.

“I really enjoyed working with the crew and we had many great days together, so I am a little sad that it will be ending here.

“I’m hoping I can keep in touch with everyone ... and be able to tour around Australia with my music, especially now that I will have more time to do it.”

Mr Cox has already performed at many music festivals around Australia but is excited to be able to perform even more.

Friends and former colleagues, some of whom travelled in to Broome for the occasion, had high praise for Mr Cox, saying everyone he worked with was treated like family. They said he was a great role model, particularly for the other indigenous workers, and many looked to him for inspiration and guidance.
