LATEST COVID-19 DEVELOPMENTS:

* Two Melbourne vaccination centres have closed down after staff were spat on and abused while on their way to work during ongoing unrest in the city.

* Victoria recorded 766 new local cases on Thursday, the state's highest tally of the pandemic.

* Stranded Victorians fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be allowed to return home from Greater Sydney within a week.

AUSTRALIAN VACCINATION NUMBERS:

* There have been 25,782,517 doses administered in the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout up to Wednesday, including 337,285 in the previous 24 hours.

* Of the total, 14,814,115 have been administered by the Commonwealth (an increase of 202,430 in the previous 24 hours).

* 13,871,549 have been issued in primary care (+194,015) and 942,566 in aged and disability facilities (+8,415).

* 10,968,402 have been administered by the states and territories, including 134,855 in the previous 24 hours.

AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Australia reported 1847 local cases on Wednesday: 1063 in NSW, 766 in Victoria, 16 in the ACT and one in Queensland. One interstate-acquired case was also recorded in NSW.

* Three overseas-acquired cases were reported: one each in NSW, SA and Queensland.

* The national death toll is 1186: NSW 316, Victoria 836, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 7, SA 4, ACT 3. (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states).

GLOBAL CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Cases: at least 230,090,000.

* Deaths: at least 4,719,000.

* Vaccine doses administered: at least 5,991,295,000.
