Roebourne fatal crash: Man facing manslaughter and dangerous driving charges over death of passenger

A 33-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter over the death of his passenger following a car crash in the Pilbara. Major crash detectives charged the Derby man following the incident that occurred on North West Coastal Highway, between Karratha and Roebourne on Wednesday. Police said the collision happened about 6.25pm when a blue Toyota Hilux collided with a Holden Captiva, which they say was driven by the 33-year-old. A man in his 50s inside the Holden died at the scene. Major crash detectives have since charged the driver of the Holden with manslaughter and dangerous driving occasioning bodily harm offences, police announced on Friday. The 33-year-old received serious injuries in the crash before he was taken to Karratha Health Campus by ambulance. He will face Karratha Magistrates Court on Friday. The driver of the Toyota Hilux — a woman aged in her 50s — escaped the incident with minor injuries and was also taken to the local hospital in Karratha. Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section were seeking information regarding the fatal crash.
