Homicide squad probe death of injured woman in St James
Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a woman in Perth’s east early this morning.
Police were called to a home on Palmerston Street in St James by St John Ambulance about 2.30am.
Several units responded and found a woman in her 60s with multiple injuries.
A man in his 20s who is known to the woman was arrested at the property while the woman was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where she later died.
The arrested man was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital for medical treatment, where he remains under police guard.
Palmerston Street is blocked from both ends and there is still a large police presence as forensics officers examine the scene and officers doorknock neighbours.
The vast majority of neighbours on the street said they did not hear or see anything overnight.
However one woman who lives nearby said she was “shocked” and “devastated” by what had occurred.
The home that is now the subject of a major crime scene and appears to have at least two CCTV cameras out the front of the house.
