A man who was a teacher at a college in the Perth’s south east has been charged with historic child sex offences.

The 47-year-old from Southern River allegedly sexually assaulted a female student who was 16-years-old at the time of the first offence.

He has been charged with seven counts of sexually penetration of a child under 16, six counts of indecently dealing with a child over 16 years and one count of person in authority indecently dealing with a child for offences that allegedly occurred in 2007 and 2008.

He is due to appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court today.
