Geraldton builders have proven they’re on solid ground this year, claiming 11 out of 12 awards at the 2020 Housing Industry Association’s Regional WA Housing Awards in Geraldton tonight.

Geraldton’s Warren Taylor Homes secured the top trophy with a custom-built home in Wandina (pictured) at the function held at The Gerald Apartment Hotel.

Association WA executive director Cath Hart said the home, which won the Regional WA Home of the Year award, delivered across all areas of the judging criteria.

“The quality of the design and finish stood out from the rest,” she said.

“We saw many worthy finalists, but the winner is fully deserving of this recognition having created such an elegant, statement home.”

She said judges were enamoured with the “less is more” approach to the architecture, modern styling, natural lighting and open plan interior.

Warren Taylor Homes was also recognised with two other awards; the best custom built home for the same Wandina property and the best project home for a property in Drummond Cove.

Geraldton construction company McAullay Builders took out five awards for framed housing, small commercial project, innovation in housing, GreenSmart sustainable home and outdoor project.

Poynton Building Company won the renovation/addition project award while Connolly Creative Building Co won the award for best custom build home under $500,000.
