First State apperance for Fraser House ends in victory over Perth Football League

Gnowangerup’s Fraser House was part of a WA Country men’s football team that eclipsed Perth Football League by three points in a thrilling contest on Friday night.

House pulled on the yellow- and-black State colours for the first time at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

The inaugural WA Country women’s side made it two wins on the night after prevailing by 25 points earlier on.

House played across half-back and through the middle of the ground in the victory. Three final-term goals ensured the Country men got home.

Perth Football League kicked three goals in the first term to lead by 11 points at the first change before Country hit back with three goals in the second to take a one-point lead at the main break.

But the tide turned again and Country went into the last term down by 10 points.

Country responded and a goal inside the last four minutes from Brad Holmes handed them a thrilling win, 8.9 (57) to 8.6 (54).

Kukerin-Dumbleyung’s Justin Joyce was among the WA country’s best players on the ground while fellow Cougar Nathan Phillips and Boddington’s Matthew White were also in the winning team.

Williams ball winner Simon Panizza also played a leading role in the victory.
