The communities of Waroona and Harvey showed off their festive spirit last week as Christmas cheer hit the towns.
Both Waroona and Harvey held their annual Christmas Gala on Friday night, with both regional communities celebrating the holiday season with live music, gift giving and cheer.
The Waroona Christmas Gala started first, with attendees arriving at the town hall at 5pm to take part in the fun.
Waroona Lions Club member and event organiser Lisa Fry said she was happy with the turnout and was most looking forward to presenting the prizes for the best costume for the children attending.
“There’s lot of look forward to tonight,” she said.
Students from St Joseph’s School’s choir and Mandurah Concert Band performed to a packed crowd outside the memorial town hall.

Not long after, the town was graced with a visit from Santa and awards were handed out, with the Lazy Bear eatery awarded the best decorated business in town.
Just 30km down South Western Highway, Harvey’s Uduc Road was packed to the brim with holiday cheer as the town came out in force to celebrate the occasion.
With dancing in the street, local vendors along the kerbside and community cheers abundant, there was something for everyone at the gala.
Santa even managed to make his way from Waroona to grace Harvey with his holiday spirit.
Harvey shire president Michelle Campbell said the evening was “absolutely fantastic”.
“It’s just so great, the community atmosphere and the Christmas atmosphere is fantastic,” she said.
“The team who put this year’s show on have done such a good job which has been really well supported by the community and set a high benchmark for next year.”
Event organiser Anne Scaserra said the punters had an “amazing time” on the warm evening.
“The magic of Christmas is well and truly alive in Harvey,” she said.
