Western Australia has reported 13 new local COVID-19 cases as the Australian Medical Association calls for urgent health restrictions.

Of the locally acquired infections, 10 are linked to an outbreak in the southern Perth suburb of Coolbellup, near Fremantle.

This includes eight household contacts and two close contacts.

A household contact from the Safety Bay cluster also tested positive and a person became infected after visiting the Willagee IGA supermarket.

An infection was also found in the Greater Bunbury region, about two hours south of Perth, and remains under investigation.

It is believed this case was infectious in the community and contact tracers are working to identify potential exposure sites.

It comes as the AMA WA calls for more health restrictions to slow the spread of Omicron in the community.

It says urgently rolling out measures, such as density limits on hospitality venues, could help avert an extended lockdown if infections spread.

"Modest restrictions now may reduce the need for harsher restrictions later," president Mark Duncan-Smith said.

The suggested restrictions also include a mask mandate for indoor venues, a limit of 10 people at homes and a dancing ban at nightclubs.

The AMA also said people should work from home where possible.

Meanwhile, Premier Daniel Andrews was had a dig at WA when asked about the McGowan government's comments about the COVID situation in Victoria.

"I am not here to have an argument with the government of the West. I can get our Ambassador to talk to their's if you like," he joked.

About 5000 people were tested in WA for COVID-19 on Sunday.

Two infections linked to travellers were also reported.

WA Health is also monitoring two vessels off the WA coast after both reported that they were likely to have COVID cases on board.

All positive crew members are isolated in their cabins.

WA has recorded 393 cases throughout the pandemic, including 179 of the Omicron strain, 53 Alpha strain, 15 Beta strain, one Gamma strain and 138 Delta strain.
