Bourke strikes twice to lead YMHC-Pegasus to first victory of the season

Kiara Bourke shone with two goals last weekend that powered YMHC-Pegasus to their first victory of the season at the expense of Norths in the Eastern Goldfields Hockey Association’s women’s A1 division. With Bourke on-point and Elise Kinsey also contributing a goal, YMHC-Pegasus cruised to a 3-0 win to break a run of 12 consecutive losses. It was the type of performance that the squad had been chasing all season, but it was a case of too little, too late with just two games of the qualifying series left. Ahead of a top-three finals format, YMHC-Pegasus trail third-placed Norths by three games and they meet an unbeaten CBC this Saturday. Also last weekend, CBC extended their perfect record in 2024 to 13 games following a 3-1 result against Mines. In the men’s A1 division, CBC grabbed a 2-1 result against Mines and Peter Cottle scored six goals in Norths’ demolition of YMHC. Week 19 fixtures start on Friday at 6.30pm when Pegasus meet Norths in the women’s A2 division. The same clubs will be opposed at 8pm in the men’s A1 division. Results: A1 men: CBC d Mines, 2-1.
