Basketball WA coach development manager Keegan Crawford was in Narrogin on October 15 to conduct a coaching session ahead of the upcoming Narrogin Basketball Association 2020-2021 season.

Seventeen local coaches attended the coaching clinic which was made possible through a Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries grant.

Crawford demonstrated many different drills and spoke about how they could be effective in games.

He also delivered a range of coaching ideas.

Local coaches had the opportunity to give their input throughout the session and they walked away with some fresh ideas.

The local basketball season kicked off on October 20, with the grand final scheduled for March 27.

Fixtures will be played across Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the YMCA Narrogin Regional Leisure Centre.

There are six boys’ teams and four girls’ teams in the under-12 competition, three boys’ teams and three girls’ teams in the under-14 and under-16 divisions, and seven boys’ teams and four girls’ teams in the under-19 competition.

The association is looking at the possibility of sending teams away to the annual Country Championships in Perth in January and February.

More umpires are required for the season.
