Disadvantaged schoolchildren in Karratha, Wickham and Roebourne have received a helping hand with their education through a generous donation of more than $11,000 worth of school supplies by the Karratha Bikers Association.

Some $11,260 in supplies were dropped off to all the primary schools and was the result of funds raised by major KBA fundraiser the Father’s Day Car, Bike and 4WD Show.

The annual show has raised $36,607 for school children over the last four years and since it began nine years ago has raised $85,667 for the local community.

KBA president Neil Tollison said the club would like to thank everybody that attended the event.

“Obviously, without all these people contributing, we cannot pass it on to the community,” he said.

Mr Tollison said this year’s event would mark the 10th year the show had run.

“We’ve gradually been increasing the money raised year on year and this year was the most we raised,” he said.

Held at Hampton Oval in Dampier on September 9, the event featured displays of vehicles, market stalls, a lost dad’s tent bar and a live performance from Living the Dream.
