From learning how to sew to exploring sustainable living, Exmouth locals will be encouraged to repurpose and recycle at several makers’ sessions over January and February.

The Exmouth Cultural Arts Centre will hold sessions including beeswax wraps creation, glass bottles decoration, playing with clay and a fishing knot master class in support of the Makers’ Film Festival screenings at the end of February.

ECAC member and artist Bina Finnern said the sessions were centred around saving things from landfill.

“I think that we throw away far too many things and we need to try and repurpose things that we find and there are so many objects which you could look at creatively and see another life for them,” she said.

“I’m hoping (the participants) get inspired about looking at things and repurposing them and learning something and that they also have a lot of fun while doing it.”
