Carey Park held on to claim their sixth win of the year in a goalless match against Harvey-Brunswick-Lescenault at the weekend.

The Panthers and Lions slugged it out for four quarters in pouring rain at Brunswick Oval, with the visitors eventually claiming a 0.3 (3) to 0.2 (2) win.

The weather dominated for most of the day and made it hard for either team to get the ball out of the centre of the ground in the goalless contest.

Carey Park’s Holly Bilcich, Louise Bignell and Halle Phillips did their best around the ground on the day to try and give their side a spark, while Dakota Sexton, Bree Hurrell and Riley Brine once again impressed for HBL.

Kandice Hart, Kate Fielding and Shaye Serna-Pastor were also named in the best for the Panthers for their work at stoppages, while Tessa Kongras, Claire Brown and Lauren Patane tried their best to drive the ball forward for the Lions throughout the day.

The one-point win takes the Panthers eight points clear of HBL in sixth on the ladder with games against Eaton, Harvey and Donnybrook still to play.

Meanwhile, the Lions have just one game remaining in the season — a round 22 clash with Eaton.

HBL will have two weeks to prepare for the Boomers, who they beat by one point in round 11.
