A 14-year-old boy has admitted to engaging in sexual conduct with his cousin on two different occasions, in what was seemingly ‘consensual’ encounters between them.

The boy, who cannot be named, appeared in Bunbury Children’s Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to three counts of sexually penetrating a child under 13.

The court was told the teenager and the victim were cousins with an age difference of almost three years.

In one incident, the pair were staying at a relative’s house in the Great Southern on October 23 last year and had attended the local agricultural show prior to returning there.

While the victim was in a spare bedroom on her mobile phone, the boy entered the room and the two engaged in sexual conduct.

The boy would engage in sexual conduct with the same cousin again in his bedroom at his South West home while their family celebrated New Year’s Eve.

It was not until February this year that the victim disclosed the offending.

The boy made no comment during a police interview.

While the matter was ultimately adjourned to obtain a psychological report, it was submitted that there was no allegation of force during the offending.

The boy will be sentenced on November 4.
