WA’s oncoming cold front can see South West residents anticipate severe weather the region only experiences about twice a year.

Areas of heavy rainfall and damaging winds include Albany, Bunbury, Esperance, Geraldton, Katanning, Mandurah, Manjimup, Margaret River, Merredin, Moora, Mount Barker, Narrogin, Northam and Perth.

Geraldton down to Israelite Bay in the South East Coastal can expect damaging winds in excess of 125km/h from 2pm.

The heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in Northern South West and Southern Lower West districts from midday, particularly near the Darling Scarp.

This cold front is not the end to the region’s harsh weather, with thunderstorms and heavy rainfall expected to continue into the weekend.

Abnormally high tides and dangerous swell is also expected between Kalbarri and Israelite Bay.
