  1. Julie Bishop copped her share of criticism for wearing a $2500 designer dress into Parliament on the night of the Budget. Oddly, I didn’t read any criticism of the men in Parliament who wore designer suits. If you think any of the male MPs were rocking Boss or Zegna for example, then work off a starting price of at least $1500. Double breasted or double standard?
  2. Every weekday I walk through the heart of our city and almost every week the number of homeless people in our CBD increases. They have their reasons for living rough and nobody truly knows their journey but can their number just continue to grow unchecked? I know the Tourism Minister wants us to be polite, but are we being too polite for our own good?
  3. Give me solutions not problems. In that spirit I can report this column’s suggestion our city’s homeless be housed at the now vacant Princess Margaret Hospital site has had some community support. So I ask again, why not? All the facilities are there and it’s a roof over their heads.
  4. I admire the work of the Bureau of Meteorology and understand they’re dealing with an imprecise science, but it does feel like they’ve been gun shy ever since the great hail storm of 2010. On Wednesday, we had warnings of hail in Bullsbrook and Ellenbrook — they barely got a drop of rain.
  5. Anyone else starting to think WA needs a trick other than quokkas and celebrities in the same pic? Just about done its dash I reckon.
  6. Back in the city and is the former Gucci site on the corner of King and Hay streets ever going to house a tenant again? It’s been empty now for three years. Waste of space.
  7. It’s well known that AFLW superstar Erin Phillips is the daughter of legend Greg Phillips who played with Collingwood and won eight SANFL premierships with Port Adelaide. What isn’t as well known is Greg’s son-in-law is Hawthorn champion Shaun Burgoyne. Shaun’s four, Greg’s eight and Erin’s two — 14 flags in the family.
  8. Rumour of the week from “The Real Promoter”, Coldplay are coming to Perth in the back half of 2019.
  9. Question: If the Liberals get rolled next month, does Scott Morrison survive as leader? Assuming no, and assuming he wins his seat, what chance that our boy Christian Porter is the next leader of the Opposition?
  10. I was taken for a ride yesterday — in a rally car down in Nannup ahead of this weekend’s Forest Rally. I got back to Perth in the afternoon. I’m expecting my stomach to arrive back some time today! Gee, those guys can drive.
