Could Carlton pull off the best move of the 2020 trade period?

Out-of-contract Collingwood star forward Jordan De Goey has previously cited his desire to stay a Magpie, but Carlton appear ready to fight to make him a Blue.

The 24-year-old doesn’t have a contract or a manager as he heads into a crucial off-season and Essendon great Tim Watson has heard he’s currently being pursued.

“He (Watson’s source) said, ‘Yes, Carlton are keen on (Jordan) De Goey and I said, ‘How can they possibly get that deal done?’”, Watson revealed on SEN this morning.

Speaking in reference to his source, he continued: “And he said, ‘With great difficulty but they are looking at him as a possible recruit as well’.”

The forward’s appeal comes after last year’s failed attempt to lure Tom Papley from Sydney, which has now resulted in him choosing to stay put under John Longmire at the Swans.

Meanwhile, GWS forward Jeremy Cameron has been offered a ‘disappointing’ offer by the Giants for next year, throwing his name into calculations at rival clubs.

Last year’s Coleman Medallist was reportedly offered a five-year deal worth $3.5million, but it hasn’t been enough to entice him to stay.

Geelong is rumoured to be ‘up to its eyeballs’ in the hunt for Cameron’s signature, with renewed talks taking place after GWS’ ‘lowly’ offer.

“Now the Joe Daniher domino has fallen, Jeremy Cameron is the other big one,” Fox Footy’s Tom Morris said.

“Geelong has been up to their eyeballs in Jeremy Cameron for quite some time now, probably around 18 months, Jay Clark first reported that at the Herald Sun late last year. That still exists.

“Six months ago - (he) looked certain to be at the GWS Giants (in 2021).

“They were so confident. They’re not so confident any more, this is really on a knife’s edge.
