AFL trades 2020: Talk of Patrick Cripps homecoming ‘rubbish’ as Carlton captain likely to re-sign with Blues

Rumours of a Patrick Cripps homecoming appear to be false with word the Carlton captain will likely re-sign with the Blues to the dismay of West Coast and Fremantle fans.

The East Fremantle product is contracted with the club until the end of the 2021 season and has played 118 games for Carlton since being drafted 13th in 2013.

While talk swirled this week about a potential return to WA as an Eagle or Docker, 7 News AFL reporter and Hard Ball Gets Podcast host Ryan Daniels is embedded in Queensland and believes all trade talk involving Cripps to be “rubbish”.

“I spoke to some people that know him very, very well this week, he’s definitely not going anywhere,” Daniels said.

“We all heard those stupid rumours about how he needs to come home because of his partner. That Fremantle and West Coast are moving heaven and earth to trade for him. But, Categorically, he’s not coming home.

“He wants to be at Carlton, he can see things turning, he’s the captain of the club. It’s all rubbish, it’s all completely false.

“Sorry to burst everybody’s bubble in terms of Fremantle and West Coast fans, but it’s not happening.”
