McDermott, the Golden Cap winner, scored a tournament-high 577 runs during BBL11, including back-to-back centuries in December - the first ever Big Bash player to achieve the feat.

McDermott received 25 votes, finishing three votes clear of Melbourne Stars duo Glenn Maxwell and Joe Clarke.

Scorchers opener Kurtis Patterson was the other Perth representative, finishing equal 10th spot with 14 votes alongside Australia’s T20 skipper and Melbourne Renegades star Aaron Finch.
