After a number of players in his senior squad were forced to isolate due to COVID during the past month, last weekend’s bye could not have come quickly enough for Busselton coach Daniel Delaney.

With his side hopefully on the other side of this transmission spike, the Magpies coach is looking forward to Sunday’s clash against Donnybrook at Sir Stewart Bovell Park.

“The guys who contracted COVID-19 have had a couple of weeks off, which is good,” Delaney said. “So they are right to go.”

A man who looms large in this game appears to be dangerous Magpies forward Liam Creighton, who has been one of his side’s most consistent players this season.

“I probably think this year was his first uninterrupted pre-season, which probably helped,” Delaney said. “Over the last three years, he has had some interruptions but now he is the fittest he has ever been.

“It just seems as every game goes by, he is just getting better and is going to be a headache for opposition sides.”

The Dons moved into fourth position following their upset win over the Harvey Bulls and will fancy their chances of victory against the Magpies, given the fact they have generally been competitive at Sir Stewart Bovell Park over the past five seasons.

Bounce down is at 1.30pm on Sunday, with the women’s game held directly after the league contest.
