Social media giant Twitter has crashed at a global scale, just minutes before Prince Philip’s funeral this evening.

Twitter users were unable to access any of the Royal Family pages without the site crashing just after 8pm tonight.

By 8.30pm the whole site was down — logging people out and denying access to user accounts.

The problem reportedly started late Friday night as an issue for users, with Twitter quick to fix the problem.

Just hours later — and right before a global historical event — the site crashed again.

The error occurred as thousands across the globe tuned in for the funeral procession.

It is unknown whether the fault is linked to the large amount of users keeping up-to-date with the funeral, or unrelated.
