Commonwealth Bank has been hit with an outage, as customers report issues using the bank’s app.

According to Down Detector there was a spike in customers complaining their app wasn’t working.

It was confirmed to NewsWire the bank had brief outage with some customers needing to log out and back in to resume banking services.

Services were restored with Commonwealth Bank at 4.45pm.

Customers took to social media to express their frustration about being unable to check balances or make payments.

The bank has not yet issued a statement regarding the cause of the outage.

Commonwealth Bank was not the only major bank hit with an outage on Wednesday with ANZ also confirming issues with its services.

In a statement on social media, ANZ said it was aware of issues that are causing delays with payments including salary and pension.

“While the issue has been resolved, a small number of payments may require future checks in the coming days. We know this is frustrating, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience,” ANZ wrote.

“Our teams are working to process all remaining payments as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
