Jamie Dunn, creator of beloved puppet Agro, dies at 75
Jamie Dunn, the beloved creator and voice behind puppet Agro has died at the age of 75.
The Brisbane entertainer was best known for the ‘90s children’s TV program Agro’s Cartoon Connection on the seven network.
The children’s program, featuring the cheeky and mischievous puppet, aired weekday mornings on the Seven Network between 1990 to 1997.
The popular children’s program combined cartoons and live studio segment, featuring the beloved Argo puppet.
Dunn died at his home in Imbil, on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday in the company of his wife Maree.
Dunn was also a major force in Queensland radio, leading the B105 Morning Crew becoming radio’s first million dollar personality during a dominant run on the airwaves.
The program blended comedy, interviews and talk segment and became an instant hit with locals.
Former colleague Brett Debritz said Dunn true calling was in radio, saying he remained a “fun” person throughout his entire career.
“Dunn was a giant of Brisbane radio — the comedic backbone of the B105 Morning Crew, which dominated the breakfast airwaves for more than a decade — and the mastermind behind Agro, the puppet whose cartoon show became a national hit.”
Dunn, who was born in England before moving to Australia as a child, first worked in music before finding success in television and radio.
