A mini festival of alternative pop rock will descend on RAC Arena in early 2027 headlined by Grammy-winning American group Weezer.

The Californians will return to our Island in the Sun as they launch a five-show Aussie tour in Perth on February 24, supported by fellow 90s and 2000s favourites Third Eye Blind and Fountains of Wayne.

Labelled Weezer: The Gathering, the tour promises to bring the group’s full headline set Down Under for the first time in 14 years.

Their most recent appearance in Australia came in late 2025 with the Good Things Festival.

Formed in Los Angeles in 1992, their debut record, titled Blue Album, spawned enduring hits Say It Ain’t So, Undone — The Sweater Song and Buddy Holly.

Weezer have since released a staggering 20 studio albums spanning 34 years, featuring later tunes Hash Pipe, El Scorcho, and idyllic summer classic Island In The Sun.

Releasing their latest record We Struck Gold, the band announced the tour news to fans on social media on Wednesday.

“The gold rush continues. Next stop: Down Under,” they wrote.

“Australia and New Zealand, The Gathering is coming with Third Eye Blind and Fountains of Wayne.

“Consider this your official summons.”

Worthy support acts Third Eye Blind were born from a similar era, with their self-titled debut album producing singable anthems Sem-Charmed Life and Jumper, both staples of any 90s greatest hits playlists.

Similar to a retro club night in Perth, locals can also expect to scream the lyrics to Stacey’s Mom when Fountains of Wayne wind back the clock.

The group’s last Australian shows were as far back as 1999, and after disbanding in 2013, returned to the stage in 2025.

Weezer: The Gathering tour dates

February 24 — Perth, RAC Arena

February 26 — Adelaide, AEC Arena

February 28 — Melbourne, Rod Laver Arena
