Abbey Holmes has relished motherhood so much, there was no stopping at one.
“Becoming parents has been the greatest time of our lives, so to know we’re about to do it all again is incredibly exciting,” the Channel 7 AFL commentator said, revealing she and husband Keegan Brooksby were expecting their second child, following the birth on son Braxton last June.
“With two under two, we know life is about to get busier, noisier and a little more chaotic, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I can’t wait to see Brax become a big brother. We always hoped we would be able to expand our family and have children close in age, so we are extremely grateful it’s turned out this way. We love the idea of them growing up, side by side, sharing milestones together and becoming best friends.”
Holmes, an inaugural AFLW premiership player with the Adelaide Crows before moving into broadcasting, said raising one-year-old Braxton had been lifechanging.
“I love my career, but becoming a mum has given me a completely different perspective,” she said.
“It makes you appreciate the time you have at home even more, and we’re looking forward to navigating life as a family of four.
“We know this kind of news can hold different emotions for different people. We don’t take for granted how fortunate we are to be growing our family, and our hearts are with those still waiting, hoping, or grieving.”
