Karl Stefanovic has been cut from his radio show with Eddie McGuire, just weeks after his departure from the Nine Network following controversy surrounding a podcast interview with British right-wing activist Tommy Robinson.
Stefanovic co-hosted The Long Weekend on ARN’s Pure Gold radio network alongside McGuire, but did not appear on last Friday’s episode amid the fallout from the interview and his exit from television.
He is not expected to return, with reports by the Sydney Morning Herald and Australian Financial Review saying ARN is understood to have made a business decision to move on from the broadcaster.
The show, which launched this year, was part of Stefanovic’s move into a broader media portfolio beyond traditional television. However, his recent interview with Robinson triggered controversy and contributed to Nine parting ways with the long-time Today host.
Following the fallout, Stefanovic has now also reportedly lost his remaining media contract with ARN, with sources saying the network decided this week to end the arrangement.
The deal was reportedly worth about $200,000 for the remainder of the year.
McGuire is expected to continue hosting the program, which may now be reshaped around him.
More to come.
