Peanut, the Brahman calf who thinks he’s a dog

A Broome calf who thinks he is a dog has become a local celebrity thanks to his quirky behaviour.

Peanut the Brahman calf was found by the side of a Kimberley road in February after mother was hit by a car.

Broome man Edward Foy took the tiny brown calf home to the off-the-grid property he shares with six dogs.

Two months later and Peanut has full embraced a canine identity.

"This one has never seen another cow before, so as far as he's concerned, he's a dog and he's picked up the same personality as a dog," Mr Foy told the ABC.

Peanut and his doggie brothers can often be seen walking on Coconut Well beach, and yes, Mr Foy does keep him on a lead.

"I normally walk him down the beach and he'll follow me the whole way down while I go for a fish," Mr Foy said.

While Peanut is slightly bigger than the average dog right now, he could grow to weigh up to 900kg.

Mr Foy hopes that he and Peanut can live a long and happy life together.

"Hopefully in the future I can ride him through the bottle shop," he said.
