Midland Murder: Tawhai Walker-Loughlin and a boy, 16, accused of murder in alleged robbery gone wrong

Two teenagers accused of stabbing a father to death in Midland in front of his young son were attempting to rob the man of $1200 worth of cannabis, it was alleged in court. Tawhai Walker-Loughlin, 18, and his co-accused, a boy aged 16, appeared via videolink at Stirling Gardens Magistrate Court on Wednesday charged with stabbing the man to death in his car on July 3, this year. The boy, who is being held in Banksia Hill Detention Centre, pleaded not guilty to four charges including murder, attempting to steal $1200 worth of cannabis from the victim and stealing a kitchen knife from Big W Midland. Mr Walker-Loughlin did not enter a plea to one charge of murder. His case was adjourned to February 18, while the boy will next appear in court on March 23. About 5pm on July 3, police were called to the scene after a man, aged in his 30s, was found with serious injuries at the corner of Great Northern Highway and Margaret Street, Midland. According to 7NEWS, the man was found in his car after he was stabbed in the presence of his son. The man was rushed to St John of God Midland Hospital with stab wounds. He died of his injuries.
