Zane Ambrose Mccullough Farr: Man jailed for child sex abuse material found under bed, on USB in pot plant

A Cooloongup man who kept some of his vile collection of child sex abuse material on a USB in a pot plant outside his bedroom window has been put behind bars. Zane Ambrose Mccullough Farr started looking at pornography at a very young age — just six — as a way to distract from his emotions and dysfunctional home dynamics. Then as an adult, he sabotaged a relationship by distributing intimate images without his partner’s consent, also earning himself a conviction, the now 27-year-old’s WA District Court sentencing this week was told. And last year, just months after he had been released from prison and was on a supervision order, he lied when police searched his home and found a laptop under his mattress in his bedroom. He said he did not know the password and nobody had used the device since it come into his possession, but they still got access, finding 780 images and 709 videos of children being violated. The victims included toddlers and babies. Days later, Farr’s housemate called police to tell them he had found the USB, which contained more appalling images and videos. “You have played a role in the exploitation, corruption, humiliation, damage and victimisation of those vulnerable children,” Judge Genevieve Cleary said. “The harm caused to these children is incalculable. “In a very real sense, those who possess this material encourage further child abuse.” The judge sentenced Farr to three years’ imprisonment, with parole eligibility after serving half.
