A 19-year-old woman has been charged with failing to stop to help a pedestrian after she allegedly hit the woman with her car. Major crash investigators launched an investigation into the alleged incident in which a 45-year-old woman died after she was hit by a car on Jetty Road at about 8.30pm in Derby on Wednesday. Police say the 19-year-old driver struck the 45-year-old woman with her red Holden Barina hatchback. Tragically the 45-year-old suffered critical injuries and died at the scene, while the driver was uninjured. Police say the woman did not stop and help the woman after the incident. The 19-year-old has been charged with driver failed to stop and ensure assistance received after incident occasioning death and no authority to drive. She is due to face the Broome Magistrates Court on December 8.
