A Geraldton postie’s smooth moves on the job have brought smiles to an audience of millions, with a video of his impressive dance moves going viral over the weekend.

Australia Post worker Tom Sorgiovanni, 17, was caught in the act by a CCTV camera when attempting to deliver a parcel to a Bluff Point house on Wednesday, March 4.

After ringing the doorbell and getting no response, Mr Sorgiovanni seized the moment to bust some Michael Jackson-inspired moves on the property’s front veranda.

He was captured by the property’s home security camera, and the owner of the house posted the video to the Geraldton Community Noticeboard on Facebook, attracting 3.4 million views and more than 290 comments.

Television news outlets shared the video over the weekend, which the teen said he never expected to happen.

“It’s all a bit crazy. I didn’t realise how viral the video would go,” Mr Sorgiovanni said.

“I was there at this house at the end of the day, and it was the last parcel. I was happy because it was a 40C day and I was going home, so I just started singing to myself and had a little dance.”

Mr Sorgiovanni said he was singing Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean to himself, as Australia Post didn’t allow workers to have headphones on while on the job.

“I didn’t think too much of it to be honest,” he said.

“The surface was really slippery, so while I was waiting, I just thought ‘I can do a little dance’.”

It wasn’t until he finished his dance and went to document the failed delivery for Australia Post that Mr Sorgiovanni spotted the camera.

“My first thought was ‘oh no’,” Mr Sorgiovanni said.

“But then my sister showed me that the video had been posted to Facebook, and everyone was loving it. My boss even thought it was really funny. She said it was pretty cool.”

Mr Sorgiovanni said he learnt to dance when he was younger and now used it to “muck around.”

He said he did it when he needed to get his “head out of what was happening”.

Australia Post has acknowledged the viral video and Mr Sorgiovanni’s moves, and dubbed him an “absolute legend” who will rock with the community and their parcels.

“All I can say is a big thank you to the community for all of the support,” Mr Sorgiovanni said.
