Long-serving Katanning St John WA volunteer and transport officer Robyn Lloyd has been inducted as a Member of the Order of St John, receiving one of the organisations highest honours at a recent investiture ceremony at Government House.
The appointment recognises outstanding dedication to service, compassion and the humanitarian mission of the Order of St John and is regarded as the highest honour that can be awarded to a St John volunteer or employee.
Since joining the Katanning sub-centre in 2006, Ms Lloyd has contributed more than 6200 operational volunteer hours, helping ensure the centre’s readiness and reliability while regularly stepping in when support was needed most.
With more than 18 years of service for St John WA, Ms Lloyd has also strengthened the region through her work as a casual transport officer, committee member, mentor and active community volunteer.
The honour reflects a commitment to the values of charity, integrity and care for others, which are principles that have guided the order’s work for centuries through community wellbeing initiatives, first aid support and medical services.
Receiving this distinction acknowledges both past service and a continued pledge to serve with humility and purpose.
Widely respected for her professionalism, kindness and commitment to excellence, Ms Lloyd has made a lasting contribution to both her team and the wider Katanning community through her efforts.
Ms Lloyd said she was honoured to have received this award and recalls her time volunteering as an enjoyable experience.
“It’s been a privilege to work with St John for the last 20 years,” she said.
“It’s a great honour to have.

“I was there for 20 years — it was awesome and enjoyable and I’m very proud to have been chosen.”
Ms Lloyd’s favourite area of St John was transportation, where she travelled with patients to the hospital they needed to attend.
“I did transport and I thoroughly enjoyed doing the transport whether it was back and forth to Albany or up to Fiona Stanley or wherever, I really enjoyed the group of people that did transport and they do a fantastic job,” she said.
She said the St John community made her time volunteering in the Katanning area a memorable one.
“I have enjoyed every minute of it and the people that volunteer and do the work are great . . . there’s a lot of people involved that do a great deal so its been really special for me,” Ms Lloyd said.
“To do something for your community, it makes you feel good, keeps you healthy and is good for your mind.
“It’s a great honour and I feel so honoured to have been chosen and its a nice way to end my volunteering career.”
