The month-long 2026 Bloom Festival will officially spring into life in Woodanilling with the Woody in Bloom event on Saturday.

The community celebration marks the arrival of Djilba (spring) and invites visitors to take the scenic drive to Woodanilling to enjoy a day out and experience the people, produce and creativity of the region.

The Woody in Bloom event officially launches the beginning of the month-long spring program that will run until October 11, celebrating the Great Southern’s wildflower season alongside its communities, culture, food, wine and country hospitality.

Woody in Bloom will run from 11am to 2pm and people can expect an extensive market and community area with stallholders offering homemade art and crafts, jewellery, clothing, accessories, photography, plants, flowering bulbs, crochet and locally made products.

The Wagin Woodanilling Landcare Zone will showcase artistic flora and fauna catalogues developed by local community members and Woodanilling Primary School students.

There will be guided bush walks on offer with botanical and fauna specialists and other nature-inspired experiences, including a succulent activity, flower bar, potted plants and locally produced goat’s milk skincare.

The event will also highlight the agricultural sector of the region with displays including farm drones and associated equipment, turf management machinery, Swiss Valais sheep and community organisations representing interests and activities of surrounding towns.

Families will have lots to discover with interactive activities and displays alongside food favourites including Malaysian cuisine, a community sausage sizzle, coffee, ice cream, fairy floss and popcorn.

The launch provides a starting point for visitors who are planning to ‘Wander With The Wild’ across the Great Southern throughout the month.

The Bloom Festival stretches across the Great Southern with events in Katanning, Kojonup, Pingrup, Bremer Bay, the Porongurups, Frankland River, Denmark, the Stirling Range National Park and Fitzgerald River National Park over the next month.
