Goldfields Giants’ US import Delaynie Byrne’s brilliant double-double of 40 points and 14 rebounds on Saturday that led the team’s crucial NBL1 West victory over Perry Lakes has earned her the division’s Foot Locker player of the week award.
Alongside US compatriot Sierra Moore, Byrne is powering the squad’s push for an historic maiden finals berth in their first season with the Goldfields club.
Byrne leads the Giants for rebounds per game (12.35) and blocked shots (1.35) and is second to Moore’s 24.27 for points scored per game at 21.41.
Moore also leads the way for free-throws and steals, alongside Hazelle Yam who is No.1 for assists with 4.35 per game.
With just two games remaining of the qualifying series, the Giants are sixth with a 9-9 win-loss record — a game clear of seventh-placed Lakeside, and two ahead of Perth Redbacks, who currently hold the last finals spot.
Goldfields’ women were ninth in their debut season in 2022, just a game outside the top-eight, and have since finished 11th (2023), 12th (2024) and 11th (2025).
