‘Targeted’: Grim police suspicion after man dies from gunshot wounds at Liverpool hospital from alleged gang-related attack

A man has died following a suspected gang-related shooting in Sydney, with police revealing they believe it was a “targeted” attack. Authorities from Liverpool City Police Area Command were called to the Sydney-based hospital at around 1.20am on Saturday where an injured man had presented himself. The injuries were consistent with two gunshot wounds and he passed away shortly after their arrival. The man, who was a resident of Mt Druitt, has not yet been formally identified. Detectives from the NSW Police’s State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad are investigating the matter, which authorities believe to be deliberate and gang-related. On Saturday they revealed the man may have been “targeted” as part of the alleged attack. The man was dropped off at hospital by another man in a blue vehicle. The vehicle has since been found and placed under police custody. He was immediately taken into emergency surgery, but was unable to be saved. Authorities are looking at a number of areas where the shooting may have taken place. Police will provide updates to the investigation when more information surfaces. The death follows a previous unrelated shooting incident in Liverpool on Wednesday where a 49 year-old man was arrested for shooting in the area and charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and attempted robbery.
