Arty trio on podium

Bridgetown High School students had a successful showing at the South West Visual Arts Spectacular, taking out three podium finishes, including a first place.

The winning pieces of artwork will be on display at Bunbury Regional Art Gallery until July 26.

Naomi Carlson (Year 7) won first place in the sculpture category for her piece Everlastings.

“I'd like to say thank you to Bruce Carlson from Bridgetown Windmills, Estelle Rowcliffe Carlson, the judges, all of the people who liked my art, gave it compliments, and believed in me,” she said.

Shanti Seppiyo (Year 8) and Rose Goldsmith (Year 10) placed third in the sculpture and 2D categories respectively.

Art teacher Melissa Jones said she was proud of all of her students who had entered the competition.

“How fantastic for these budding artists to see their work in a beautifully curated exhibition at Bunbury Regional Art Gallery,” she said.

“COVID put the brakes on all regular exhibitions and competitions, so being able to enter student work to the South West Virtual Arts Spectacular was a real lift.”
