The Unearthed Pemberton Festival kicks off on Friday and will have plenty on offer to discover the wonders of the Southern Forests region.

Activities at the festival fall into three categories; art and heritage, food and wine and adventure.

One such adventure is a social mountain bike ride from 10am on Saturday.

With Pemberton man Mark Hudson as the guide, participants will be taken along some parts of the trails in and around the town.

While the ride is not aimed at beginners, Mr Hudson said the ride would be adjusted depending on people’s levels of capability.

“We want to get people up in the park,” he said.

“We want to show them the links to different trails we have in the area.”

The ride will take about two hours and Mr Hudson said afterwards riders would be invited out for a hot drink.

“This is a good way to get out, enjoy the scenery and the various trails we have,” he said.

“We have 32km of trails around and you’re not going to be able to ride all of it on Saturday, but you’ll be able to experience different types of paths.”

Other events throughout the festival will include A Food and Farm Tour, a cheese-making workshop, a sundowner, farmer’s markets and truffle tours. Visit unearthedpemberton.com.au for tickets and more information.
