Manjimup Visitor Centre is getting ready to host its annual fundraising auction dinner, which involves many businesses from around the community.

The event has run each year for the past 19 years and helps raise money for the centre.

Last year, the event attracted about 100 people, raising about $8500.

Centre manager Samantha Hill hoped for a similar turnout for this year’s event, which will be held on July 6.

“Businesses from around the community have been very generous in donating items for the auction and the Shire of Manjimup has supported the event as well,” she said.

“We have a wide range of items, from wood to lawn-mowers to vouchers for restaurants and last year we had about $5500 worth of items donated; we expect this year to be similar.”

Ms Hill said she encouraged people to come along and support the visitor centre, have a great meal and compete for some great items against their friends, with auctioneer Terry Reeve.

“The Manjimup Visitor Centre is a not-for-profit, largely self-funded organisation, so this event goes a long way to be able to provide visitor services to the community,” she said.

The event will be held at the Manjimup Hotel Bistro from 6.30pm, with tickets costing $35 each, which can be purchased from the visitor centre.
