Narrogin nursing student Leonard Emmins has been awarded the 2025 student of the year at the Narrogin South Regional TAFE campus, recognised for his approachable nature and willingness to support others.
The award is part of the annual South Regional TAFE student awards which celebrate outstanding students across 12 campuses throughout regional WA.
Mr Emmins completed a certificate IV in preparation for health and nursing studies and has now gained entry into the diploma of nursing for 2026 at Narrogin campus.
Mr Emmins demonstrates outstanding results across all his studies and fosters collaboration and creates an inclusive learning environment.
Outside of the classroom Mr Emmins volunteers with St John WA, contributing to the wider community and embodies the South Regional TAFE’s values.
This year’s program recognised 187 winners from more than 12,000 students with nominations made by lecturers and assessed on how well the students demonstrated the organisation’s values of collaboration, integrity, inclusion and innovation.
Over the three weeks, award ceremonies were held across the region highlighting achievements in vocational education and training and the role it plays in building local careers.

Altogether at the Narrogin TAFE, three campus-based awards were given out as well as five certificates of excellence.
Two other students, Sea Evans and Ehsherwahdah Dah, were named overall South Regional TAFE students of the year.
South Regional TAFE managing director Blair Marsh, said the awards showed the individual success of students.
“The annual student awards are a wonderful opportunity to reflect upon the individual successes of our students and uncover stories of personal achievement — each one is unique, meaningful and inspirational,” he said.
“I congratulate all students for their hard work and dedication to excellence.
“Each winner is a fantastic ambassador, not only for their training area but as a future leader in their regional community.
“Access to training opportunities that align with industry needs is even more important in regional areas and South Regional TAFE is dedicated to supporting our students to achieve their goals and ultimately success in their careers.”
