Neo-Nazi Joel Davis was exiled from NSN after he ‘pissed off’ the group’s national leaders, text messages have revealed

Neo-Nazi Joel Davis was exiled from the NSN after he “pissed off” national leaders and caused “chaos” at a time when members were “facing enough dramas”, text messages tendered in court have revealed. Mr Davis, a former member of the National Socialist Network (NSN), is accused of harassing federal MP Allegra Spender and NSW Liberal Leader Kellie Sloane online, according to court documents. Mr Davis has not yet entered pleas to 10 charges of using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend. He has admitted to writing “Patriots, I bid thee to rhetorically rape Allegra Spender” in a message on Telegram last November after she condemned an NSN rally outside state parliament, with the message later going viral after it was shared on social media. When Mr Davis became aware that the NSN’s NSW leader Jack Eltis didn’t want him to “rapepost” he allegedly questioned where the “legal issue” is given he said “rhetorically rape”, adding “the whole point is to be provocative”, texts tendered in court documents allege. The documents allege Mr Eltis exiled Mr Davis from the group the following day, telling him that the NSN’s national leadership was “equally pissed off with the rape comments”. “I am removing you until Christmas (Dec 25) for bringing the organisation into public disrepute (rape comment) … and sowing disunity and further chaos at a time where the members are all being doxxed and facing enough dramas,” Mr Eltis allegedly said in the Telegram message. “The entire chapter spent all day fielding questions from friends and family about whether we support rape, when they already have to also explain their worldview and they are losing their jobs as well. “It’s very unfortunate you couldn’t just take the win, but had to ruin it with the dumb rape comments. Honestly the whole situation is extremely disappointing.” Mr Davis allegedly replied saying the rape comment was a “throwaway line” and he didn’t expect it to get much of a reaction. “It’s a wake up call … I’ll make the necessary adjustments,” Mr Davis allegedly said. According to court documents, Mr Davis had previously called the comment “good publicity” in other text messages, writing “the whole point is to be provocative”. Mr Davis is further accused of sending a Telegram message in September 2025 that allegedly said “must rape” in response to the eSafety Commissioner announcing she will step down after receiving threats from neo-Nazis. “Eat shit b***h. Bullying works,” Mr Davis allegedly wrote in response to the article. “Must rape … Just sucks I can’t take credit or ill get charged (sic).” In response to an article about Ms Sloane, Mr Davis is further accused of sending the text: “Stupid b***h … Needs to be beaten fr (for real)”. Mr Davis was freed from custody last week after he was granted bail by the NSW Supreme Court. He is expected to defend his case in front of a jury trial, though he has not yet entered any pleas. Written submissions tendered on his behalf in his fight for bail claim the term “‘rhetorical rape’ is a sexual metaphor used in literature to describe a style of argument and debate, and the metaphor can be traced into antiquity”. Mr Davis claimed during his third failed bail application in January that he was no longer an NSN member, just days after the group announced it would shut down. This was confirmed by Justice Natalie Adams in the Supreme Court last week. His lawyer Sebastian De Brennan had also claimed his client had changed some of his political views and just wants to focus on family. Mr Davis is barred from going within 100m of Ms Spender and Ms Sloane, their electoral offices, and from contacting them as per his bail conditions, and has been banned from using social media.
