A man died in WA’s Goldfields-Esperance region on Sunday night after he lost control of his car and crashed into a tree.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Coomalbidgup — about 60km from Esperance — on South Coast Highway about 3.55pm after a silver Toyota Landcruiser, towing a box trailer, left the road and hit a tree.

“The 40-year-old male driver of the Landcruiser received critical injuries and was conveyed by ambulance to Esperance Hospital where he died a short time later,” police said.

Major Crash officers are examining the scene and calling for any witnesses who saw the crash or the Toyota Landcruiser travelling in the area before to the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
