The inspiring mothers behind the 2026 Little Telethon Stars have been given a well-deserved chance to switch off, step into the spotlight, and enjoy a glamorous VIP makeover day.

Miraluna Narsico, Amy McKay, and Janelle Street spent Thursday getting completely pampered with cut, colour, hair styling and makeup treatments at Maurice Meade Karrinyup, following tailored personal styling sessions at the centre earlier in the week.

For women who spend their daily lives navigating endless medical appointments, hospital visits and around-the-clock care for their children, the rare moment of self-care provided an emotional and uplifting reprieve ahead of Telethon weekend.

For Miraluna Narsico, whose son Aidan lives with Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome, the day offered an unforgettable opportunity to relax.

“I haven’t been pampered like this for a long time,” Ms Narsico said.

“I pretty much feel very, very special today, I feel like a new person.”

Having been paired with a professional Karrinyup stylist to curate a fresh outfit gifted by the center, she loved stepping outside her usual fashion comfort zone.

“It’s good to have someone who can actually suggest and help you explore the styles that I haven’t really ventured before,” she said.

Amy McKay admitted it took some time to adjust to being the centre of attention after years of focusing entirely on her daughter Paige — who lives with a rare Pilocytic Astrocytoma.

“I certainly didn’t feel worthy of all the attention when it all began this morning, but I did settle into it,” Ms McKay said.

“As I started to relax, I realised I didn’t have to think of a hundred different things at once while I was sitting here, I just got to sit back and go with the flow.”

Janelle Street echoed the sentiment, cherishing the rare day without motherly duties while her daughter Olivia — who lives with Collagen VI-related Myopathy — cheered her on from afar.

“It’s been really great just to have a moment of not having to do anything, which doesn’t happen very often,”Ms Street said.

“When you have time to yourself, you’re like, ‘Okay, enjoy every moment,’ but it takes that little bit of time just to be like, ‘Okay, I can switch off mum mode and not worry about children and I can just have a moment for myself.’”

Ms Street swapped her red hair for a lighter, brighter take on her natural colour and styled new pieces from her personal shopping trip.

“She really nailed it,” she said.

“We’ve all been joking that we’ve got to win Powerball so we can do this like every six weeks.”

Behind every Little Telethon Star stands a mother who shines just as bright.

With their new looks, custom outfits, and rejuvenated spirits, Mira, Amy, and Janelle are ready to take on the fast-paced Telethon weekend alongside their inspirational kids.
