Perth motorists experienced delays and diversions with multiple crashes causing chaos on major freeways on Wednesday afternoon.

One crash that caused havoc was a breakdown blocking the centre lane at Manning Road, Leach Highway eastbound. Main Roads WA reported it at 5.45pm and advised that the traffic was slow on approach.

Another crash was reported by Main Roads WA at around 4.45pm, have brought motorists to a crawl with the right lane blocked on Tonkin Highway northbound before Stock West Road in Bullsbrook. It was cleared by around 5.30pm with traffic flowing normally.

Traffic headaches were made worse by a truck breakdown, reported at around 4.40pm, on the Graham Farmer Freeway eastbound entry from Loftus street in West Perth. The truck was cleared at around 5pm but traffic remains heavy on approach.

Other crashes reported earlier this afternoon and still causing traffic include a crash in Gnangara that has closed Gnangara road westbound at Alexander Drive. Police are on site and traffic is heavy in both directions.

There was also a crash reported at around 4.30pm on Leach Highway Eastbound at fifth avenue Shelley. By 5pm traffic was flowing normally.
