A police incident on Reid Highway is causing major congestion on Thursday evening as commuters head home from work.

Reported at 6.10pm, the unspecified incident occurred on Reid Highway westbound after Mirrabooka Avenue in Mirrabooka.

The highway has been closed between Wanneroo Road and Northwood Drive, and Incident Response are also on the scene.

Traffic is heavy on approach and Main Roads has advised drivers to avoid the area and seek an alternative route.

Another crash on South Street eastbound at Darling Street caused peak-hour mayhem for motorists in Beaconsfield.

The crash was reported by Main Roads at 2.55pm on Thursday.

A left lane closure was put in place.

At about 3.00pm, another crash at the southbound intersection of Albany Highway and Liege Street in Perth’s east, caused major delays for motorists in Cannington.

The entire right lane of the major highway was blocked off, before the crash was cleared at 3.42pm.

Towing services attended the scene.
